Production Buyer

A well-established international manufacturer in the Elgin area is seeking a Production Buyer to support its purchasing and materials operations during a busy production cycle. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience with a respected industry leader while contributing immediately to the team’s success.

The company operates in a precision manufacturing environment and needs someone who can confidently handle MRP-driven purchasing, vendor communication, and order expediting.

This is a 3-month contract role with a quick start — just one short interview followed by onboarding. Strong performers may be considered for longer-term or permanent opportunities.

Run MRP messages and generate standard stock product purchase orders.

Expedite materials and communicate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.

Maintain and update inventory and system records to reflect accurate order status.

Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to resolve supply issues.

Monitor open orders and delivery commitments, escalating issues proactively.

Keep organized purchasing documentation and ensure accuracy across systems.

2+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or materials coordination (manufacturing experience preferred).

Strong understanding of the material request and order process.

Experience with JD Edwards (JDE) or similar ERP/MRP systems highly preferred.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.

High School diploma required; Associate’s degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred.

Competitive hourly rate up to $30/hr
