Maintenance Technician | PLC Troubleshooting & Production Equipment Repair (Support production uptime through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing and utility equipment.)

Shift: Night Shift | 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM | 2-2-3 Schedule

Pay: $30–$35/hr based on experience

Role Summary

Randstad USA is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity in Elgin, IL. This role supports a fast-paced packaging manufacturing environment by performing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and troubleshooting on production equipment and facility systems.

Ideal candidates will have strong PLC troubleshooting, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance experience in manufacturing environments.

Minimum

PLC certification required
1+ year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Familiarity with CMMS/work order systems
Experience using hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment
High school diploma or GED required

Preferred

Technical degree in Mechanics, Electrical, or related field
Welding and machining experience
Packaging or converting industry experience

salary: $72,800 - $83,200 per year

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled, preventative, and emergency maintenance on production equipment
Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, AC/DC drives, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical drawings
Complete preventative maintenance inspections and document work in CMMS systems
Support utility systems including lubrication and resin delivery equipment
Track equipment issues and communicate updates with maintenance and production teams
Maintain inventory records and report parts usage as needed
Follow OSHA, MSS, SOP, GMP, and facility safety standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Support additional maintenance projects and production needs as assigned
