Registered Nurse (RN) Pain Management Clinic/Infusion/Venous Access Part Time

Sherman Hospital, Elgin, IL

This nursing position works in the Pain Management Clinic (PMC) and includes in‑office injections. Nurses also cover the Outpatient Infusion Clinic and place PICC/MIDLINES. The Infusion Clinic serves patients receiving daily IV antibiotic and related therapies.

Base pay range

$34.90/hr - $56.25/hr

Schedule & Hours
  • Part Time – 24 hours per week
  • Monday‑Friday:
    Pain Management Clinic 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
  • All 7 days:
    Infusion Clinic 9:00 am – 12:00 pm; after clinic, placement of PICC/Midlines until 5:00 pm
  • Shift start possible as early as 8:00 am
  • Required holiday rotation for infusion clinic
  • Rotating weekends (Saturday & Sunday)

Major Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness.
  • Anticipate and recognize significant patient condition changes, provide ongoing assessment, and take appropriate actions.
  • Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase safety; assess patient and family readiness to learn and tailor education accordingly.
  • Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Apply evidence‑based practice and incorporate nursing and regulatory standards into care.
  • Evaluate unit outcomes and support shared governance and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, conflict resolution, and leadership within the care team.
  • Promote a culture of safety, identify safety threats, report events, and assist in corrective actions.
  • Apply ethical decision making and collaborate with peers across disciplines.
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Licensure, Registration & Certification
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Experience
  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.

  • Holistic patient care with a patient and family focus.
  • Recognize and respond to situational changes with confidence and timeliness.
  • Proficient computer skills, including EMR and electronic communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Time‑management and multitasking in high‑interruption environments.

Certification Addendum
  • Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching above shoulders, and twisting frequently.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs. overhead; carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • Use foot pedals on carts or machines; may be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood, body fluids, and communicable disease.
  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and fine‑hand manipulation for IV insertion.
  • Operate necessary equipment for the role.
