This role is located at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL
. The position includes a 40‑hour evening/night schedule, typically two 12‑hour shifts (7 p.m.–7 a.m.) or two 8‑hour shifts with some flexibility.

Base pay range$43.30/hr – $64.95/hr
Major Responsibilities- Serve as Charge Nurse, assigning patient and non‑patient care in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintain staffing requirements in accordance with established policies and patient volume.
- Collaborate with physicians, management and other healthcare professionals to ensure delivery of quality care and high patient satisfaction.
- Assure accurate reporting of census, acuity and staffing at predetermined times.
- Ensure Point of Care Testing, Code Carts/Code Boxes are accounted for and supplies are available to staff via Lawson.
- Monetarily and ethically monitor/edit Report Express reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agency standards and hospital policies.
- Promote patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives.
- Apply principles of Performance Improvement to contribute to positive patient outcomes.
- Respond to patient and family concerns promptly, referring complex issues to management.
- Contribute to unit performance improvement plans, indicators and outcomes.
- Provide clinical leadership to plan, coordinate and manage personnel and resources in a cost‑effective manner.
- Facilitate staff growth and development through coaching, mentoring and performance pathways.
- Assist with data collection/tracking for education and in‑services of assigned staff.
- Maintain current knowledge of the organization’s Mission, Philosophy, Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in unit and hospital committees to increase knowledge and networking skills.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in a specialty area with relevant continuing education and certifications, as decided by department discretion.
- Ability to assume charge/schedule coordinator role.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cohesively with a diverse work group.
- Specialty‑specific skills, including CPR and Illinois Licensed Professional Registered Nurse certification relative to specialty area, if applicable.
- Ability to travel locally, work in stressful conditions, remain resilient and flexible, and cooperate with others.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for patient lifts over 35 pounds, use patient handling equipment with assistance when available.
- Knowledge of child development, adolescent behavior patterns, and age‑specific care plans as outlined in departmental job standards.
Ability to travel locally, work within stressful conditions, and perform lifting and bending. Must recognize behaviors of various age groups and provide age‑appropriate care.
