Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position involve sales activities in the import/export business of fresh/frozen meat and other food items. The role includes monitoring division accounts such as revenue, expenses, and profits. It often requires working non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends) to meet with customers in Japan or Asia. Travel within the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Japan is also expected.
Key Responsibility Areas:
A. Trade with Japan and Domestic Customers
1. Receive inquiries from customers, obtain and forward offers from suppliers, and participate in price determination.
2. Receive orders from customers, send purchase orders to suppliers, and confirm orders with customers.
3. Supervise export coordinators in setting shipping schedules, instructing shipping vendors, and overseeing shipping arrangements.
4. Review accounts payable and receivable, and follow up as necessary.
5. Negotiate and resolve problems and claims as needed.
6. Communicate with suppliers and customers to improve service and product quality.
7. Develop new business opportunities by identifying new products or services of interest to customers.
8. Monitor Meat Division accounts, including sales, purchases, profits, and expenses, and report to management.
9. Travel for business to inspect production sites, conduct negotiations, and meet with customers at production locations.
10. Entertain customers as needed.
