Maintenance Trades Specialist II – HVAC/Refrigeration Technician
Advocate Health Care – Sherman Hospital;
Elgin, IL. Full Time; 1st Shift. Monday‑Friday; some weekends may be required.
Base pay range
: $28.05/hr – $42.10/hr
Maintenance Trades Specialist II – HVAC Technician
Key Responsibilities- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and repairs on basic facility systems and document tasks through a computerized maintenance system.
- Assist in evaluating and troubleshooting basic building system failures and perform repairs as directed.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain basic Utility System Infrastructure.
- Assist in maintaining fire alarm and fire protection systems.
- Support the installation of building hardware, electrical devices, and wall finishes under supervision.
- Maintain preventive maintenance records and equipment repair files for compliance.
- Read blueprints, Life Safety drawings and maintenance manuals to gain knowledge needed to complete assignments.
- Advanced training beyond High School, including the completion of technical training.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2‑4 years of experience in relatable industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
- Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures.
- Intermediate level computer skills in using systems such as CMMS, Microsoft Office, Building Automation Systems.
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal oversight with intermediate level technical skills in facility maintenance.
- Works required shifts and participates in on‑call duty to provide 24/7 coverage.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead, up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest level, and up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards and therefore knowledge of safety precautions.
- Position requires travel.
- May be exposed to road/weather hazards.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Job Requirements
- Recognized community college/tech school trade certificate experience or completion of a recognized community college program.
- Trade/Tech School Trades Certificate or trades or industry recognized certification/license requiring Continuing Education Units or periodic renewal.
- 2+ years of experience in relatable industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
