Fleet Services is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on a company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with and listen effectively to clients to assess their needs and resolve problems.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing activities and time allocation.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document all work, upload pictures, and record parts used on Repair Orders (RO) using an iOS device and the company's TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation timely.
- Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain productivity and meet most Standard Repair Times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair approvals and RO notes.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field; candidates with alternative combinations of education or 5 years' experience are considered.
- Possess and supply the hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Provide a current DOT medical card with at least four months of validity if no medical card is available.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a valid driver’s license; maintain a valid state Driver Qualification File.
- Hold a Class C license.
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification

- Determine the type of tools and equipment needed for tasks.
- Judge distance between objects accurately.
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches.
