Work Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Rate of Pay: This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 14, with an annual salary range of $54,932 to $73,243. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by supporting the ECC sports teams at practices and home games. Work involves monitoring, evaluating, and setting recovery and fitness for athletes and documenting injury history to create a more comprehensive and complete plan for our athletes. General supervision is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training program.
  • Athletic Training Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers or the ability to pass the trainer’s exam by the end of the probationary period of employment.
  • Current member in the National Trainers Association, and Illinois Trainers Association; maintain memberships during employment.
  • Certified in AED/CPR training. Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher.
  • Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Working skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Essential Duties
  • Attends and monitors all team practices (men and women soccer, volleyball, men and women basketball, baseball, softball).
  • Provides support for all home games/matches for the following sports (men and women soccer, men and women basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball).
  • Monitors, evaluates, documents injuries, and installs rehabilitation programs for athletes.
  • Communicates with coaches regarding updates on injured athletes, their status, and any rehab programs they are working on.
  • Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications.
  • Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  • Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  • Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
