High School Assistant Coach - Football

School District U-46 invites applications for the High School Assistant Coach position in the High School Athletic Department. The role reports to the Head Coach and focuses on supporting program organization, coaching practices, athlete development, and program compliance.

• Assist the Head Coach with program organization and practice planning.
• Verify athlete registrations, monitor eligibility, and maintain the program budget.
• Communicate event schedules and maintain a safe practice and competition environment.
• Represent the program at meetings, including parent and school administration sessions.
• Model sportsmanship, academic excellence, and team values for student athletes.
• Provide student discipline and maintain adherence to district conduct codes.
• Coordinate fundraising and record financial reports per district policy.
• Maintain equipment inventory and facility safety.
• Attend orientation programs and professional development opportunities.
• Support the overall success of the football program through positive community and school partnerships.

• Valid Illinois teaching certificate or American Sport Education Program certification.
• Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Knowledge and application of high‑school coaching theory, strategies, and athlete development.
• Experience coaching high‑school football and a record of promoting sportsmanship and academic focus.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to stand for long periods; walk and perform coaching duties across indoor and outdoor environments.
• Lift equipment up to 50 pounds and handle sporting gear.

• Reviewed annually by the Athletic Director and Head Coach.
• Position aligned with IHSA athletic calendar and district policy.
• ETA coaches may renew without reapplication; non‑ETA coaches must reapply each year.

• This is an Appendic F stipend position.
