Cashier, Warehouse

Join Elgin Recycling as a Cashier at our location in Elgin, IL. This full-time role combines face-to-face customer service and accurate cash handling at our pay window with clerical support for warehouse managers. You will process customer payouts, maintain transaction records, and help keep daily warehouse office operations organized. The position offers 35–40 hours per week and requires availability Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM.

Work takes place near the warehouse floor, where conditions may be dusty and temperatures can include extreme heat and cold.

• Process cash transactions accurately, including customer payouts at the pay window.
• Balance the cash drawer daily and manage opening, closing, and mid-day cash transfers.
• Answer phones and communicate with customers, warehouse team members, sales representatives, and corporate personnel.
• Learn industry materials to process transactions efficiently and assist customers.
• Use the ROM operating system to generate reports and manage data.
• Support warehouse managers with daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork and clerical tasks.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe, and report hazards to management.

• Strong customer service skills and clear verbal and written communication.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to multitask calmly and efficiently during busy periods and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Availability Monday through Saturday for a 35–40-hour workweek, including Saturday hours of 8:00 AM–1:00 PM.
• Ability to work near the warehouse floor in dusty conditions and extreme heat and cold.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach above the shoulders, with the vision, depth perception, and hearing needed to perform job duties.

$18.00 per hour for this full-time position, with 35–40 hours per week.
