Position Title: Temporary Aviation Maintenance Technician Assistant

Description of WorkAssists both the Director of Aviation Maintenance Technician in general aircraft maintenance duties and inspections as a laborer with duties to assist in completion of Scheduled, Unscheduled and Aircraft Maintenance. Serves as an additional laborer for two-persons and multi-persons job to assist with ensuring overall safety, prevention of personal injuries, quality assurance backup to the Director and Maintenance Technician with an overall goal in expediting repairs to reduce aircraft downtime in maintenance.
Reports parts usage, assist with parts procurement, stocking and inventory of parts. Participates in a weekly preventative maintenance program ensuring each aircraft is checked weekly for lubrication, fluids and tire pressures. Assists in maintaining support equipment in ready condition.
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications of the position as listed in the position description.
Possess the knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations, University Academic, administrative and operational procedures and requirements.
Possess the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.
License or Certification RequiredNon FAA Certified Apprentice level technician, normally a student of a FAA part 147 school seeking eventual certification as a Certified FAA Airframe and Powerplant technician (or an apprentice under an OJT self-paced training program seeking FAA certification) with knowledge of the basic hand tools and safety precautions used in aviation maintenance.
