Position Overview

This Management Accountant role supports the financial sustainability of EMH through accurate reporting, budgeting assistance, and compliance support. Working closely with the CFO and bookkeeper, the role provides foundational financial analysis and reporting across programs and funding streams.

Assist in preparing monthly management reports and cash flow updates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Support variance analysis and detailed program‑level financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Support
    • Assist in preparing monthly management reports and cashflow updates
    • Support variance analysis and program‑level financial reporting
    • Help prepare financial summaries for Executive and Board reporting
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Assist with annual budgets and forecasts under guidance of the CFO
    • Support with monitoring cost centre budgets
    • Contribute to basic financial modelling and data analysis
  • Compliance, Funding & Audit Support
    • Assist with grant acquittals and funding reports
    • Support accurate cost allocation across funded programs
    • Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits
    • Support compliance with accounting standards and not-for‑profit obligations
  • Financial Systems & Administration
    • Assist with reconciliations, general ledger reviews, and payroll journals
    • Maintain financial records, processes, and approval workflows
    • Support continuous improvement of finance systems and reporting tools
  • Stakeholder Support
    • Provide clear and practical financial information to non‑finance staff
    • Build positive working relationships across programs and corporate teams
    • Respond to finance‑related queries with support from the CFO
Key Selection Criteria
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (completed or near completion)
  • Basic understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency with accounting software or ability to quickly learn.
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively within a values‑driven organisation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ability to learn new systems
  • Interest in working in the not‑for‑profit or community services sector
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture, self‑determination, or willingness to learn
  • Experience in administration, finance support, or internships
  • Exposure to grant funding or government‑funded environments
