Summary: The Survivor Representation Project Family Law Attorney plays a critical role in ensuring that victims become survivors by providing quality and trauma‑informed full representation, limited scope representation and legal advice in Family Court matters including restraining orders, child support, and custody proceedings. Will work closely with SRP Program Coordinator and FJC Director to ensure SRP provides responsive services to clients.

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
• Excellent advocacy and litigation skills with knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence problems, with a minimum of two years experience practicing family law.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel (and other computer programs).
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

• Assist with completing and revising the SRP Policies and Procedures manual.
• Provide legal representation, limited scope representation and advice as appropriate to qualified survivors of domestic violence in Union County Family Court in restraining order, custody, and child support proceedings.
• Coordinate representation, as needed, with the Immigration Attorney.
• Hold twice weekly "office hours" for YWCA clients with legal questions.
• Supervise and assign work to the Court Advocate/Paralegal.
• Attend regular meetings for all stakeholders in the project including internal YWCA team members and external Family Justice Center partners.
• Become familiar with the partners and legal referrals used by the FJC and refer victims as necessary.
• Maintain case records and other required documentation.
• Participate in monthly project team meetings with the Director of Family Justice Center, weekly FJC meetings and weekly supervision meetings.
• Assist with any funder reporting requirements.
• Attend monthly YWCA staff meetings.
• Attend quarterly Domestic Violence Working Group meetings.
• Complete the 40‑hour Domestic Violence training.

• Attend and participate in community and board of director meetings as needed.
• Represent the Agency to other organizations as assigned.
• Represent the YWCA on external committees, as appropriate.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings on a regular basis.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Salary: $85,000–$85,000 per year
