Warehouse Assistant Manager - Nights

The Asst. Manager is a key leader position in the distribution and operations organization reporting directly to the Night Manager. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as knowledge of warehouse operations to include inventory control, shipping and receiving operations in a Direct Sales organization. Preference for warehouse automation experience and union environment is a plus but not required. Asst.

Manager directs the night to night aspects of operations, ensuring the highest level of customer service from the warehouse to customers while improving productivity through continuous improvement in fill rate, throughput and cost.

• Ability to identify and plan for staffing requirements based on knowledge of warehousing and distribution operations.
• Has the ability to make decisions based on experience in shipping, receiving and inventory control.
• Ensures that procedures and processes match requirements of the operation.
• Capability to train and implement new technology and processes while maintaining productivity.

• Individual and collective accountability, reward and recognition programs, communication designed to develop the frontline employees and build a desirable place to work.

• Development and Implementation with the management team and frontline of correct standard operating procedures and performance-based metrics in order to drive results through continuous improvement programs such as lean six sigma.

• Partnering with Night and Day operation manager, delivery and Maintenance functions to identify areas of opportunities for improvements to fill rate, throughput, and reduction of cost.

• Direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property.
• Provide safety instruction to personnel as needed.
• Report all work-related injuries immediately.
• Provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with appropriate government regulations.

• Bachelor’s Degree ( Logistics management, Mechanical engineer, or Business Management )
• 5-7 years of supervision level experience within a distribution warehouse
• Operational supervision experience
• Distribution of product experience
• Preferred warehouse automation experience
• Functional system understanding in WMS, Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint; strong communication skills
• Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights and weekends only when required

The anticipated salary range for this position is $76,000 to $80,000, depending on qualifications such as experience, education, and skillset.
