Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a NJ or compact license and strong critical care skills.

• Work in an ICU within a hospital setting
• Care for patients on ventilators, with pressure support, sedation drips, stroke, or cardiac arrest
• Night shifts with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is required
• Float to 7 South Telemetry and additional units as needed based on skills and hospital needs
• Patient ratio is typically 1:2-3
• Uses Baxter IV pumps, ventilators, and bedside and central Hemodynamic monitors
• EMR system used is Epic; experience preferred but not explicitly required
• Primary duties include managing critical care patients with complex needs, including sedation and cardiac interventions
• Team structure may require floating to various units to meet hospital needs
• Gray scrubs are required for all shifts
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Background checks must be clear of open or active issues
• Facility does not permit travel pairs

• Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1.5 years of ICU experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Strong ability to identify cardiac rhythms is required
• Experience operating ventilators and hemodynamic monitoring equipment is required
• First time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Former RWJBH staff must have a minimum 1 year separation before travel assignment eligibility
