Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 1.5 years of recent experience and current NJ or compact state licensure.

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
• Provides care for critically ill patients, including those on ventilators and sedation drips
• Patient population includes stroke and cardiac arrest cases
• Required to float to 7 South Telemetry and other units as needed based on skill set and hospital staffing requirements
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with every other weekend required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2-3
• Utilizes Baxter IV pumps, ventilators, and both bedside and central hemodynamic monitoring equipment
• Electronic charting with Epic is used; previous Epic experience preferred
• Expected to provide advanced care to critically ill patients including ventilator and cardiac support
• Must wear gray scrubs as part of the dress code
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Pairs or travel teams are not accepted for this assignment

• Active NJ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 1.5 years of recent ICU nursing experience required
• Ability to identify cardiac rhythms is required
• Experience with ventilators, sedation drips, and hemodynamic monitoring is required
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Former staff must have been separated from the RWJBH health system for at least 1 year to be eligible
• No active background or license issues permitted
