The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

The Cook prepares, seasons & cooks food for hospital patients, hospital café meals on wheels program, and special functions for both on and off sites. This position is required to maintain a sanitary and safe work environment following all state and local health codes.

Qualifications (Required)
  • One-year hotel /restaurant cooking experience
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised in a restaurant style facility
Scheduling Requirements
  • 12:00pm-8:00pm with every other weekend
Essential Functions
  • Prepares required amount of food to cover meals
  • Consistently follows recipes when preparing food
  • Frequently tastes food for quality assurance
  • Takes temperatures daily following local and state codes
  • Stores and labels food properly
  • Follows daily and weekly cleaning schedule
  • Demonstrates five-star standards with staff, patients and customers
  • Prepares fresh products daily
  • Reviews daily production sheets to properly identify type and quality of food to be prepared
  • Minimizes waste and over production
  • Rotates food items on a FIFO A95 basis
  • Insures all foods are kept at proper holding temperatures
  • Successfully performs batch cooking
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Responsible for quality, appearance, taste
  • Attends all department and hospital meetings when scheduled
