Press Operator

Position Summary

The Forge Press Operator must be capable of setting up a forge press in a minimal amount of time. The operation involves transferring a heated billet to a forged product by processing through a forge press which includes a trim operation. The individual must be able to set up and operate an induction heater, reducer roll, and pierce press. Duties include clean‑up, minor machine repair, stocking of billets, hopper feeding, and other duties assigned by the supervisor.

• Work from drawings, specifications, and formulas in manufacturing involving detail.
• Use and interpret measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, scales, electric meters and oscilloscopes.
• Set up and operate the forge press.
• Set up and operate the induction heater.
• Set up and operate the reducer roll.
• Set up and operate the pierce press.

• Use judgment to comply with instructions.
• Work involves prescribed routines, methods or practices that allow for the making of minor decisions.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions.
