By joining our Department of Highways – District 4 – Traffic Section as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Hardin County, you’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of classroom and in-field training to allow for continued education to become specialized in road and construction maintenance and operations and to help maintain 442 miles of state roadways in Hardin County.

• Installing new sign assemblies.
• Operating dump trucks with snowplow and salt spreader to work in the winter months
• Operating power tools, such as drills, drivers, chainsaws, etc.
• Assisting signal crew.
• Flagging for operations requiring traffic control.

• Experience working on rough terrain and in all weather conditions.
• Experience with general labor or trades.
• Experience in equipment operation for road maintenance.

Additional position information:
Incumbents in this job title should possess the ability to work, sit, stoop, and bend. Should be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Should be able to respond to emergencies and work in all weather conditions.
