Human Resources Generalist – Guardian Angels Care Center (Elk River, MN)

Location: Guardian Angels Care Center - Elk River, MN

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 / Year

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist assists with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources office at the Guardian Angels Care Center. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, records management, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, HRIS, training and development, benefits, compensation and organizational development.

Job Duties
  • Provides guidance and support to questions, concerns and responses from staff and managers in relation to HR policies and practices working in collaboration with the HR Director.
  • Builds positive relationships with staff, managers, and union representatives. Serves as a first point of contact for staff and managers regarding HR policies, procedures and practices.
  • Participates and assists with developing workforce retention and culture initiatives to strengthen employee engagement and advance the mission of Guardian Angels.
  • Participates in the conduct of investigation when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline process.
  • Assists with the implementation of the performance management system that includes performance development plans and employee development programs.
  • Assists with identifying employee training needs including new employee orientation, onboarding, management development, cross-training, etc.
  • Assists and follows up with employees and supervisors on workers’ compensation claims, and supports safety training initiatives to promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Prepares employee files and ensures employee files/records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Is familiar with company benefits and can help assist staff as needed.
  • Assists with employee communication and feedback through company meetings, employee satisfaction surveys, one on one meetings, etc.
  • Participates on committees and completes special projects as assigned.
  • Assists with recruitment functions for the organization using the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures needed to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
  • Works closely with hiring managers to ensure job requirements are assessed against appropriate criteria and makes recommendations to job descriptions as appropriate.
  • Assist as needed with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations.
  • Upholds confidential information as required by Guardian Angels policy and procedure and as related to HIPAA.
  • Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Guardian Angels.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or Business with an emphasis in Human Resources or equivalent experience. SHRM Certification a plus.
  • 3-5 Plus years progressive experience in Human Resources positions or equivalent role. Prior health care experience a plus.
  • Highly organized with ability to multi-task, quickly change direction and prioritize under pressure.
  • Exhibits high degree of objectivity and professionalism and maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written skills.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • May be required to work early evenings and an occasional weekends due to business needs.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations.
