Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Requirements/Skills/Working conditions:
1. Minimum 18 years old
2. Frequent lifting 25lbs., occasional lifting up to 50lbs., ability to lift up to 75lbs.
3. Exposure to loud noise, dust, and fumes
4. Work in unprotected weather elements
5. Ability to bend and kneel for prolonged periods of time
6. Ability to walk and stand on concrete for at least 8 hours per day
7. Good verbal and written skills
8. Time-management skills
9. Problem-solving and decision-making skills
10. Working knowledge of company computer systems (POR)
11. Working knowledge of tool rental inventory
Ongoing customer service responsibilities:
1. Maintain positive customer relations through professional interactions with customers
2. Provide “How-to” instruction to customers on proper use of equipment
3. Assist customers with loading/unloading of equipment
4. Communicate with counter staff regarding incoming/outgoing equipment
5. Refill propane tanks
6. Answer phone before 5th ring
7. Be available to write contracts at counter, when needed
Ongoing yard/warehouse responsibilities:
1. Ensure shop areas are clean & organized; including equipment, tools, bench, floors
2. Use some degree of personal judgement to ensure equipment is safely maintained/repaired
3. Diagnose equipment in need of repair
4. Make necessary parts orders
5. Complete equipment repairs in a timely and cost effective manner
6. Ensure trucks and trailers are in proper working order
7. Ensure electric-operated equipment, gas/diesel-operated equipment are in proper working order
8. Perform required/suggested small equipment maintenance
9. Perform required/suggested equipment maintenance (gas & diesel equip)
10. Perform required/suggested maintenance of all trailers
Weekly responsibilities:
1. Complete Internal Repair Orders (IRO) in POR once equip has been repaired and tested
2. Complete Internal Maintenance Orders (IMO) in POR once maint. has been completed and tested
3. Communicate equipment repair status to management
4. Check diesel & gasoline tank level; place fuel order when either tank reaches ¼ tank
Additional responsibilities (as necessary):
1. Prepare new equipment for rental fleet use
2. Explain safety requirements and operations of new equipment to other staff members
Other responsibilities:
1. Demonstrate a willingness to be a team player and consider the company’s best interest in all work
related decisions
2. Cross-train and assist fellow employees in achieving their goals
3. Maintain a good working relationship with all employees
4. Attend all training as agreed upon with management
5. Maintain proper personal hygiene and professional appearance in the workplace
6. Perform all other duties as assigned by management
