Paraprofessional - Special Education, Behavior Support

Schedule: 7.5 hours per day; 190 days per year.

Qualifications: Required:

• Completion of at least 48 hours of college credit, an Associate’s degree or higher, or demonstrate knowledge through assessment (Para Pro Assessment Test) in reading, writing, and mathematics or reading readiness.
• Experience working with children.
• Wholesome attitude toward children; good communication skills; pleasing personality; willingness to learn; ability to work independently.
• CPR certification for infants and adults.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Regular attendance.

Preferred:

• 3+ years in intensive special education settings or community agencies serving special populations.
• Willingness to learn and implement service plans with fidelity.

Special Requirements:

• Complete CPI training and recertification annually.
• Complete Trauma Informed Care training annually.
• 8 hours of additional training each year.
• Maintain CPR certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Specialized training for serving students with special needs, including de-escalation and therapeutic holds.
