Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time night‑shift Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Department at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN.
Type: Part‑Time/FTE 0.75 (30 hrs/wk)
Shift: Night – 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 3 shifts one week, 2 shifts the next

Medical Surgical RNJob Responsibilities
- Perform high‑risk technical procedures safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
- Prioritize job/patient care activities based on acuity, resources, and patient preferences.
- Respond to potential or actual risk to an individual’s health by initiating corrective action.
- Advocate for patients or families to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- Maintain accountability for own and delegated actions and decisions, basing them on scientific principles and standards of practice.
- Seek supervision when unable to perform effectively or safely.
- Use internal and external resources to resolve problems beyond independent scope.
- Develop or revise individualized plans of care, including measurable goals and interventions.
- Initiate or maintain interventions to ensure continuity of safe and effective care across the continuum.
- Adjust interventions, goals, or time frames based on effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
- Document assessments, interventions, actions, and outcomes consistently and within established guidelines.
- Use interpersonal communication strategies with all team members to achieve desirable outcomes.
- Delegate to staff based on acuity, role definition, and collective needs, maintaining accountability for outcomes.
- Maintain awareness of advances in the clinical specialty.
- Contribute to departmental excellence, customer‑focused service, fiscal responsibility, and a positive workplace culture.
- Support co‑worker development through positive role modeling, resource assistance, and direct feedback.
- Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department‑specific training within established time frames.
- Maintain current BLS and other required certifications.
You will have a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. You will demonstrate advanced analytical skills, effective interpersonal communication, and the ability to solve complex patient‑care problems.
Required Qualifications- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
- If hired after January 1 , 2014, must obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment or become certified in a specialty area, maintaining certification per accrediting body standards.
