Job Description

Bio Life Plasma Services is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. Every day, the donors you meet will motivate you. The high‑quality plasma you collect becomes life‑changing medicines. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and work as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

About

the role

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Specialist is familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment and follows guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs providing center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies, developing Center Physician standing orders, and arranging donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance regarding incidents.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community, per EHS or Medical Affairs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Location and Compensation
  • Location:

    USA – IN – Elkhart
  • U.S. hourly wage range: $23.85 – $32.79 (may vary based on qualifications and experience).
  • Short‑term incentives and benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, short‑term and long‑term disability, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, company holidays, well‑being benefits, up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year, and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
