CDL A Driver

CDL A Driver - 5pm Start Time at Welch Packaging

Responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor‑trailer or box truck to deliver finished product to customers in accordance with state and federal laws.

Hourly – Full Time. Paid OT. Monday – Friday. 5 pm start time, 10 – 12 hour days.

• Complies with Driver responsibilities as outlined in company DAART program and as required by DOT.
• Maintain vehicle in accordance to Elkhart Transportation management policy.
• Operate vehicle in a safe and efficient manner complying with company policy and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
• Support on‑time delivery by transporting loads by established route to proper destination as efficient as possible while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Inspect trailer loads to ensure proper loading processes and verify it is the correct load before leaving the facility.
• Verify product count while truck is being loaded.
• Obtain correct acknowledgement or signature and date for bill of lading and necessary documentation; return properly completed documentation to Transportation Manager.
• Comply with performance measures.
• Duties may vary depending on location.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL A License.

• Prior experience driving large vehicles, such as a box truck or similar.
• Demonstrated experience practicing safe driving practices.
• Previous experience delivering and handling freight preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Occasionally required to sit.
• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
• Noisy environment typically loud.
• On the road, employee may encounter traffic or other hazardous driving conditions.
