Overview
The Nursing Team Leader will provide direct nursing care in the family medicine specialty while leading day‑to‑day operations in the clinic setting. Clinic hours may vary but are typically Monday through Friday and do not include nights, weekends, or holidays. The Team Leader ensures that the total patient experience is exceptional in both the quality of care and the patient perception of services, meeting system dashboard goals.
The role also assists with interviewing, candidate selection, orientation, training, mentoring, staffing management, and annual performance evaluations while maintaining health system standards.

- Support process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change for designated areas.
- Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards for responsibilities.

- Participate in hospital and department committees.
- Develop and mentor staff and colleagues, leading by example with professional behavior and accountability.
- Demonstrate passion for nursing and serve as a role model for service standards and recovery.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, including shared governance.
- Apply critical thinking to patient safety and experience, escalating issues appropriately.
- Support professional nurse continuum and nursing clinical ladder for RNs (CARE).
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN required on hire or a BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN completion program. Specific years of applicable experience may be required per department guidelines. Prior to 1‑1‑14 in Winnebago County and 9‑1‑14 in certain counties, an ADN alone may suffice.
Certification and Licensure- Licensed RN in the state of practice.
- Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days (additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NALS per unit requirements).
- Interpersonal & Communication – Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, genuine concern for people, strong verbal communication, adept listening, and ability to interpret concerns.
- Computer Skills – Intermediate computer knowledge required.
- Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability – Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
- May include color blind test per department guidelines.
The role requires sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, standing, walking, and reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. These functions are essential job tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.
