Job description notes:
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. - Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.
- Use all equipment in bakery (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using a variety of utensils and equipment.
- Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
- Check product quality for freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; report discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand store layout and help customers locate products.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
- Maintain inventory/stocking awareness and note discrepancies; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers with temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates; create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering product questions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents; work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
