Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work on a major project or on a moderate-scale project portion. • Assist and lead project definition, scoping, costing, approval, design, permitting, and construction activities of mining and processing infrastructure projects.
• Execute aspects of small and medium-sized projects, including planning, justification, engineering, and design.
• Forecast project costs and provide design input to engineering consultants.
• Coordinate internal activities within Nevada Gold Mines during planning, design, construction, and commissioning of wells.
• Initiate regular communication with operations, environmental, safety, project sponsors, and stakeholders.
• Assist in procurement of equipment, supplies, and contracts.
• Work on tailings slurry pumping and piping systems, including systems for a new tailings facility.
• Upgrade process equipment to state-of-the-art standards (e.g., screen decks, tramp metal removal systems, conveyors, carbon regeneration kilns, O2 plant compressors, air compressors, pumps).
• Ensure projects are designed and constructed with safety as the highest priority.
• Provide input into the Annual Environmental Report to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP).
• Collaborate with Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), Permitting, Asset Management, Reliability, Operations, and Technical Services to research and provide supporting documents for project scopes.
• Formulate project parameters and assist in monitoring progress to address constraints.
• Act as primary liaison between the project execution team and the design engineering team.
• Support project execution through controls, cost forecasting, scheduling, quantity surveying, reconciliation, and earned value management.
• Pump sizing for booster and downhole pumps; sizing of transformers; sizing and design of pipelines; generate pumping data reports.
• Assist with wireless communication infrastructure and automation projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a minimum of one or more years of engineering/maintenance experience in mining, minerals processing, or related field.
• Knowledge of standard project delivery models and methods; PMI PMBOK knowledge areas and basic stage-gate process are preferred.
• Knowledge of Design for Reliability, Operability, and Maintainability (DROM) and Operational Readiness (OR) principles preferred.
• Project management knowledge and experience managing contractors is preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office is required;
  AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.
• Familiarity with wireless data transfer, installation, data collection/output.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
