Job Summary
The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide permitting and environmental services at a gold mining operation in Nevada. Under the direction of the Bald Mountain Mine Environmental Superintendent, the candidate will manage multiple environmental compliance programs and assist in securing State of Nevada level permits. The candidate must ensure that company activities comply with company policies and local, state and federal environmental regulations and permits, conduct all activities safely, and align performance and daily functions to reflect Kinross’ values.
EssentialFunctions
- Conduct all activities safely, in accordance with Kinross internal policies.
- Ensure compliance with Nevada environmental permits, licenses and regulations.
- Solicit and gather necessary information and submit complete permit applications promptly to minimize permitting delays and ensure that company operations and projects are not hindered.
- Develop and maintain rapport with State and Federal regulators and government agencies to foster a working relationship that minimizes adversarial actions, enforcement actions, and penalties.
- Effectively communicate and engage with all site personnel regarding regulatory obligations and provide guidance and support.
- Provide environmental awareness training to site employees and contractors.
- Conduct field visits and outdoor projects as they relate to the assigned permits and duties.
- Coordinate and manage environmental and permitting contractor and consultant activities.
- Exhibit experience working with budgets, contracts and contractor management, including familiarity with creating scopes of work and working with the business partner to maintain projects within the schedule and budget agreed upon.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety, environmental, supply chain, confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Exhibit professional acumen in engaging with mining associations and other professional organizations as a Kinross employee.
- Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
- Perform other functions as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science or engineering (or a related scientific or engineering discipline such as biology, ecology, chemistry, hydrology, civil or mining engineering).
- 5‑7 years of experience in environmental programs (Nevada mining experience preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years managing state or federal permitting projects.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, both internal and external to the company.
- Ability to work as part of a transparent and inclusive team and cooperate with other departments.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload and prioritize tasks.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Experience and skill at using Microsoft Office programs.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
US work permit required.
