Join Our Team and Help Shape the Future of Mining Safety! Orla Mining is developing the South Railroad Project, an exciting open-pit mining and gold processing operation. We’re looking for an Industrial Hygienist to lead health protection programs that keep our workforce safe and ensure compliance with MSHA regulations, NIOSH recommendations, and industry best practices.

What You’ll Do

The Industrial Hygienist will develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health protection programs to ensure worker safety and regulatory compliance. This role is critical in supporting mining and processing operations by managing exposure monitoring, health risk assessments, and MSHA-compliant programs.

  • Develop and implement MSHA-compliant exposure monitoring plans for silica, diesel particulate matter (DPM), noise, welding fumes, heavy metals, and chemical agents.
  • Build and manage IH-related programs: silica Written Exposure Control Plan, Noise Control Program, Heat Stress Management, Respiratory Protection Program, and Hazard Communication.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend engineering controls like ventilation, dust suppression, and process enclosures.
  • Perform technical studies (silica mapping, noise contour mapping, ventilation assessments) and verify control effectiveness.
  • Maintain and calibrate sampling equipment, interpret monitoring results, and ensure compliance with health standards.
  • Deliver training and support MSHA Part 48 requirements for health hazard recognition and control strategies.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience in mining or heavy industry required.
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA regulations, NIOSH guidelines, and exposure monitoring techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train and engage teams.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
