The Job

As a per diem Emergency Veterinarian, you will provide timely, expert care for a wide range of cases—from routine incidents to complex surgeries and exotic animal emergencies. You will lead the floor team, mentor newcomers, and help deliver superior customer experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Answer medical questions over the phone
  • See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our customer‑centered approach
  • Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and perform physical exams
  • Use diagnostics such as ultrasound, X‑ray, bloodwork, and biopsies
  • Diagnose and develop therapeutic plans for each patient
  • Communicate diagnoses and treatment options directly with customers
  • Prepare estimates and present them to customers
  • Create and review accurate medical records
  • Explain test value and treatment relevance to customers
  • Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
  • Perform endoscopic procedures
  • Educate customers on after‑care and preventative measures when appropriate
What You Need
  • Active DVM or equivalent degree
  • Experience in emergency medicine, including soft tissue surgery and endoscopy
  • Team‑oriented mindset with strong communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg independently, 40 kg with assistance
  • Must work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed schedule
  • Adaptability to fast‑paced environments and diverse personalities
