Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Controls to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility. This position will be at the Engineer (level
2) or Principal Engineer (level
3).
The position will be filled at appropriate level dependent upon demonstrated education, experience, skills, and competency.
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. - Responsible for coordination of efforts to modernize industrial control systems and hardware. Work with process experts to create automation specifications and develop implementation resources to meet program/process requirements. Typically PLC based Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems as well as HMIs.
- Supports the processes involved in manufacturing initiators, igniters and thrust control systems.
- Owns the manufacturing process with in depth understanding of the requirements, process, equipment, tooling & techniques as learned through in depth process analysis, participation, process observation, and communication with the cross functional team
- Coordinating (Project Engineering, Tooling, Quality, Facility & Production personnel) the design & documentation of safe & affordable manufacturing processes.
- Establish monitoring for Key Process Parameters using Statistical Process Control
- Identify opportunities for improvement of existing processes, conducting trials & verifications for improvements through a robust change process, and implementing verified changes.
- Non-Conformance investigation to determine Root cause & Corrective Action for Process related non-conformances.
- Defining requirements for new/repaired facilities equipment used in the production or products
- Assist in developing the scope of work and related estimates for proposal activity
- Supporting production personnel on the floor as required
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, preferably in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of experience or a Masters degree in STEM.
- Experience with designing and programming process automation and industrial controls, Electrical assembly experience preferred
- Experience with communications, data networks and data collection
