Christiana Care offers the best hospital care in Delaware. This position is part of a 20‑hour weekly / 40‑hour bi‑weekly schedule with day shift hours from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, including rotating weekends and holidays as per department guidelines.
Base Pay Range$19.10/hr – $27.69/hr

Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate skills and knowledge essential to caring for patients at all stages of development.
- Perform assigned nursing duties for patient comfort and well‑being.
- Respond to patient crises, initiate appropriate interventions, and notify registered nurses.
- Record vital signs, Accu‑checks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobilizing patients accurately.
- Conduct finger‑sticks and follow laboratory safety policies.
- Operate point‑of‑care instrumentation and EKGs, and perform phlebotomy venipuncture as required.
- Respond promptly, compassionately, and attentively to patient needs.
- Enter orders into Meditech.
- Communicate orally and in writing with patients, staff, and physicians using courteous language.
- Use required computer skills to document in the electronic medical record.
- Perform unit clerk duties—answer phones, enter charges, call provider consults, arrange transportation, assist with clerical tasks, and audit unit supplies.
- Complete required in‑service education.
- Maintain safety by adhering to department rules; report unsafe conditions or violations promptly.
- Perform other related duties as directed.
High school graduate or equivalent AND one or more of the following:
- Prior patient‑care experience, including taking vital signs.
- Certified nursing student with completed clinical hours.
- Licensed CNA in Maryland or another U.S. state (preferred). Licensed CNAs must perform nursing assistant care within their scope, including IV insertions.
- BLS certification required.
- Licensed to practice IV insertions in Maryland before the start date.
- Risk exposure category A—potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens such as HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C.
