Quantity Surveyor

Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor for our client in Elland. The company are a construction main contractor with a rich history of new build construction for over 100 years with a low turnover of staff. They work on new build construction and refurbishment projects between £5 million and £20 million in value in the commercial, industrial, retail, and leisure sectors.

• Run own projects which could be £5-20 million in value depending on experience; provide commercial support to ensure projects are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding customers  expectations.
• Deliver projects to meet financial targets; maintain good communication to nurture relationships with the supply chain and customers.
• Effective commercial control of allocated projects including timely and accurate documentation in accordance with the reporting timetable (CVRs, forecasts, Commercial improvement documents, cash flow forecast, Commercial register, etc.).
• Effective cash management including timely applications/certification/invoicing/payment/receipts and careful administration of subcontract accounts.
• Ensure payments and notices are in accordance with the subcontract agreement and the Construction Act; identify and communicate commercial threats or risks to the line manager.
• With the Procurement team, ensure procurement of sub-contractors and suppliers is undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring packages are robust with buying gains optimised.
• Manage the timely production of Subcontract Final Accounts, including re-measurement as necessary to ensure the best result, evaluation and agreement of all variations, extensions of time, loss and expense claims.

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry for main contractors, at either intermediate or senior level.
• Experience of new build construction projects.
• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
