Teaching Assistant – Ellesmere Port | Talent Board

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting class teachers with engaging and inclusive learning activities across a variety of subjects.
  • Encouraging pupils to stay focused, build confidence and take an active role in lessons.
  • Providing 1:1 or small-group intervention to reinforce learning and nurture essential skills.
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to help maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment.
  • Assisting with classroom organisation, displays, preparation of resources and daily routines.
  • Promoting the inclusion of all pupils, including those who may require additional academic or emotional support.
  • Upholding safeguarding responsibilities and keeping pupil wellbeing at the heart of your role.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience supporting children or young people is valued — however, we also welcome applicants from care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, support work or other people-focused backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both pupils and staff.
  • A patient, friendly and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while using initiative when required.
  • A genuine interest in education and helping children progress academically, socially and emotionally.
  • An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
