Summer in the Country Camp Positions 2026
Summer in the Country (SITC) at Glenelg Country School offers a wide range of engaging camps for Pre‑K through 8th‑grade students. Campers enjoy experiences in academics, arts, STEM, athletics, leadership, and more while building creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Our programs provide a safe, fun, and structured environment that fosters learning, exploration, and lasting friendships.
Spots are limited, and we’d love you to join us! Whether you’re returning or new to SITC, this is a wonderful opportunity to share your talents, connect with students, and be part of a vibrant summer community. Submit your interest early so we can match you with your preferred camp and weeks. These positions are seasonal.
Compensation- Specialty/Lead Camps: $900–$1,160 per week
- Traditional Counselors: $15.50–$25/hour
- Floaters & Substitutes: $16–$25/hour (based on experience and education)
- Lifeguards: $16.75–$25/hour (based on experience and certifications)
All staff must be 16 years of age or older to work at Summer in the Country.
Camp Positions- Art Teacher – Pre‑K/K Weeks: 2 & 3 (June 22–26; June 29–July
2) – Lead young learners in creative art projects including painting, drawing, and hands‑on activities. Encourage self‑expression, fine motor skills, and imaginative exploration. - Ooey Gooey Science Teacher – Pre‑K/K Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Facilitate hands‑on science experiments for Pre‑K and Kindergarten students, including slime making, volcanoes, and other engaging activities that inspire curiosity and problem‑solving. - Lead Counselor – Traditional Camp (K–3rd Grade) Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Supervise daily activities, manage camper groups, and maintain a structured, safe, and engaging environment. Facilitate games, pool time, and rotations. - Mini Movers Camp – Lead Counselor Weeks: 5 & 6 (July 13–24) – Lead physical activity, yoga, and movement‑based games that promote coordination, teamwork, and healthy habits.
- LEGO Camp – Lead Counselor Weeks: 4–6 (July 6–24) – Guide campers through creative LEGO projects that foster problem‑solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Young Actors Studio – Lead Counselor Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24), two‑week session format – Lead campers through acting, improvisation, and performance activities, building confidence, stage presence, and teamwork. - STEM Teacher – 1st-8th Grade Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Teach hands‑on STEM projects including engineering challenges, coding exercises, robotics, and problem‑solving activities. - Art Teacher – 1st–8th Grade Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Lead creative art experiences for older campers, including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and collaborative projects. - Technology Teacher – 1st–8th Grade Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Teach coding, digital media, and technology‑based projects that develop computational thinking, creativity, and digital literacy. - Lifeguard Weeks:
Memorial Day through Labor Day (May 25 – September 2, 2026) – Supervise swimming activities and ensure safety in the pool area. Conduct routine safety checks, enforce rules, respond to emergencies, and assist with other outdoor camp activities. Teach swim lessons as directed. - Floaters & Substitutes Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Provide coverage for absent counselors and assist across various camps. Ensure smooth operations, safety, and engagement for campers in both specialty and traditional programs. - CIT (Counselor‑in‑Training) Lead Counselor Weeks:
All 6 weeks (June 15–July 24) – Mentor and supervise high school‑aged CITs in leadership development activities, helping them build skills in teamwork, communication, and camper support. Serve as a role model and provide guidance to ensure a positive and productive CIT experience.
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Experience with the relevant age group
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment
- Background in education, arts, STEM, theater, or relevant specialty preferred
- Lifeguards:
Must have current lifeguard certification
