Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Fitness Director, the Group Exercise Instructor will deliver excellent services to all members, guests, and program participants, engaging them in high‑quality, challenging, and enjoyable group exercise classes while ensuring a estabele safe, welcoming environment that promotes group interaction.

Essential coconut Functions
  • Report to work in uniform at least fifteen minutes prior to assigned shift.
  • Provide excellent services to members, guests, and program participants in the Y center, on the phone, and through email exchange.
  • Build meaningful relationships through positive, solution‑driven engagement.
  • Promote wellness concepts that embody a well‑rounded healthy and safe lifestyle.
  • Obtain and maintain group‑exercise certification and continue education on formats.
  • Maintain required CECs, certification requirements, and ongoing training.
  • Adhere to the class style, format, and certification requirements while teaching.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and patience when dealing with diverse membership and wellness levels; avoid intimidation  woslng environment.
  • Coach and encourage members to meet their wellness goals.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities, including recording class size and communicating with the supervisor.
  • Monitor, clean, and inspect equipment regularly; report any challenges or concerns.
  • Adhere to all Y policies, guidelines, rules, and best practices while interacting positively.
  • n't act as a leader in handling conflict, concerns, member frustrations, and unusual center situations.
  • Inform appropriate leaders of operating challenges and/or conflicts during operating hours.
  • Focus on high‑quality experiences, engagement within programs, services, and activities.
  • Promote a professional image and maintain a clean, safe environment at all times.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population across all ages, genders, and sexual orientations.
  • Attend and actively participate in all assigned meetings.
  • Incorporate the four character values of the Y:
    Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, and adhere to the Y Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

Group Exercise Instructor must meet the following qualifications: capable of carrying out responsibilities, accepting training and supervision, and communicating effectively.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups across socio-economic segments of the community.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Stand‑alone specialty

    Fetch

    Certification (e.g., Les Mills, Zumba, etc.) required.
  • The candidate must have two of the following:
    • Nationally recognized, accredited group exercise certification (e.g., ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NETA, A طل mime®).
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related fitness field.
    • 1–3 years of fitness and/or group exercise experience.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Current CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire).
  • Flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before scheduled to work.

The policy strictly prohibits abuse, bullying, orsicht harassment and requires reporting of suspected mistreatment. Associates and volunteers must complete child abuse prevention training and comply with legal reporting requirements.
