Safety Quality (FSQ) Technician - 3rd Shift

The FSQ Technician tests and inspects products at various stages of production to ensure compliance with specifications and maintains product quality and integrity.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Inspect incoming ingredients and packaging material for conformance to product specifications.
  • Audit blending operations for conformance to process and packaging specifications.
  • Audit production for conformance to process and package specifications.
  • Maintain QA record‑keeping, filing system, and housekeeping programs in the QA areas.
  • Perform microbiological plating functions.
  • Maintain compliance with CPF water quality monitoring program.
  • Monitor all aspects of production for compliance with HACCP, GMP, SQF, and SOPs.
  • Verify calibration and/or calibrate laboratory and operational equipment.
  • Inform the QA Manager of any out‑of‑spec situations or negative trends.
  • Initiate product on‑hold reports when necessary.
  • Comply with Co‑Pack requirements.
  • Follow instructions and respond to management or lead direction.
  • Write and speak clearly and informatively, and read and interpret written information.
  • Make sound decisions based on specifications, procedures, and experience.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, completing work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and execute the CPF retain program.
  • Ensure appropriate packaging and timely shipping of all Co‑pack samples.
  • Conduct analytical testing at the appropriate frequency to maintain compliance with both CPF and co‑packer requirements.
  • Observe safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Possess familiarity with basic chemistry, food science, and microbiology and strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Display good interpersonal skills.
  • Be self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Be consistently punctual and commit to long hours when necessary to reach goals.
Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school in food science, food technology, chemistry, or a related field, and one year of experience in a Food or Beverage Manufacturing Quality Assurance role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Proficient typing; knowledge of spreadsheet software (MS Excel), word processing (MS Word), database software (MS Access), and email software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Juice HACCP Certification preferred.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand and walk. May need to lift or move 25–50 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. Noise level is usually moderate in most areas but can be loud in production areas; hearing protection may be required.
