Yellowstone Local is proud to represent Hugh’s Mechanical Equipment LLC, an established provider of fuel system testing, inspection, maintenance, installation, and regulatory compliance services.

We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Field Service Technician to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial fuel systems.

This position offers varied, hands‑on work involving mechanical equipment, piping, electrical components, and fuel monitoring systems. We are looking for someone with strong troubleshooting abilities, a good work ethic, and a willingness to learn.

Previous petroleum equipment experience is beneficial, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a solid mechanical or technical background.

Compensation and Benefits
  • $52,000–$72,000 annual salary

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial fuel storage systems and associated equipment.

  • Perform tank tightness testing, product line testing, cathodic protection testing, and other required inspections.

  • Inspect and service fuel monitoring systems, leak detection equipment, pumps, valves, piping, and related components.

  • Assist with fuel system installations, equipment replacements, repairs, and upgrades.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment to identify problems, and determine appropriate corrective actions.

  • Perform work in accordance with established procedures, applicable regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Prepare accurate inspection reports, testing records, and field service documentation.

  • Maintain assigned company vehicles, tools, and testing equipment.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management.

  • Travel to customer facilities throughout our service territory, including occasional overtime, extended hours, and overnight assignments as needed.

  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical work, equipment repair, field service, or a related technical field preferred.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic reporting systems.

  • Dependable, professional, and committed to quality workmanship.

  • Willingness to learn specialized equipment, testing procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to perform hands‑on fieldwork at commercial and industrial facilities, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

  • Ability to reliably report to our Ellington facility and travel throughout the assigned service area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with petroleum equipment, fuel storage systems, or industrial mechanical equipment.

  • Familiarity with pumps, piping systems, valves, electrical controls, or related equipment.

  • Experience with tank testing, leak detection, or regulatory inspections.

  • Familiarity with Veeder‑Root, Pneumercator, OMNTEC, or similar fuel monitoring systems.

Previous petroleum industry experience is preferred, not required. We provide training and opportunities to develop specialized technical skills.
