Pediatric Occupational Therapist – School-Based Services

Acadia Therapy Services | Downeast Maine

Full-Time or Part-Time | OT or COTA

Acadia Therapy Services is a rapidly growing pediatric therapy practice serving children across Downeast and Central Maine. We are seeking 2–3 dedicated and enthusiastic Pediatric Occupational Therapists or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) to join our school-based team for the 2025–2026 academic year (with earlier start available).

If you love helping children succeed in their natural learning environments—and want to work with a supportive, collaborative, and mission‑driven team—this is the perfect fit.

About

The Role
  • Provide direct OT services in local public schools (PreK–8 depending on district needs).
  • Evaluate students using standardized tools and clinical observations.
  • Support functional skills for school success—fine motor, sensory processing, self‑regulation, handwriting, executive functioning, classroom access, ADLs, and more.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and families.
  • Write clear and timely documentation, including treatment notes, progress reports, and evaluation summaries.
  • Contribute to IEP development and attend IEP meetings (in person or virtual).
  • Communicate proactively with district staff to help meet student needs.

School‑based caseloads typically include a mix of weekly therapy sessions, consultative services, screenings, and participation in multidisciplinary student support teams.

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly compensation: $33–$46 depending on experience/credentials
  • Generous PTO
  • Flexible schedules that promote work/life balance
  • Training and mentorship for new grads
  • Mileage reimbursement & paid travel
  • A supportive, responsive leadership team that understands rural school‑based therapy
Why Therapists Love Working With ATS
  • Collaborative team culture
  • Weekly mentorship/communication with leadership
  • Autonomy and trust paired with real support
  • Opportunity for hybrid roles (clinic + school + teletherapy)
  • A mission‑driven environment where therapists feel valued
Qualifications
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist or COTA in the State of Maine (or eligible for licensure)
  • New graduates are welcome and supported
  • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating within school teams
  • Passion for helping children participate and thrive in the school setting
