About the RoleThis role is a Project Manager in the Light Industrial division of a mid‑size general contractor located in the Chicagoland area. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of light industrial construction projects, including subcontractor coordination, labor and material cost management, and RFP procurement.
Responsibilities- Oversee all stages of project life cycle, managing project development from initiation to closure.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
- Manage labor and material costs, ensuring that the project adheres to budget limitations.
- Prepare and submit project estimates and RFPs, providing detailed and accurate cost projections.
- Establish effective project communication plans and ensure their execution.
- Monitor project progress continuously and provide scheduled reports on measurable items such as milestones and deliverables.
- Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Identify and manage project risks, developing effective mitigation strategies.
- Implement and manage changes when necessary to meet project outputs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the construction industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in light industrial construction.
- Proven experience in subcontractor coordination, labor costs, material costs, and RFPs.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Proficiency with project‑management software tools.
- PMP or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality standards in the construction industry.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with a variety of project stakeholders.
