Job Summary
Elmhurst University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor (Professional Track) in the Department of Psychology. The primary responsibility is to teach in the Master’s in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology program. The successful candidate should also be able to teach undergraduate courses as needed, advise graduate students, and contribute to service activities within the graduate program, including opportunities with Elmhurst Consulting Solutions which provides internship projects for graduate students.
The position carries a 3‑3 teaching load (three courses per semester) and begins Fall 2026.
Responsibilities for this position include teaching in the Master’s in I/O Psychology program and the undergraduate Psychology program, and facilitating and supervising graduate internship projects.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in I/O Psychology or a closely related field, or a master’s degree with extensive (5 or more years) relevant experience, preferably including consulting. ABD candidates will be considered but must have the Ph.D. completed by the start date.
- Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of graduate I/O courses (e.g., Measurement & Assessment, Research Methods in I/O Psychology, Statistics, Organizational Theory, Organizational Development).
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses as needed (e.g., Research Methods, Statistics, Special/Advanced Topics Courses in Area of Expertise).
- Availability to teach in‑person evening courses in the Master’s program and daytime courses in the undergraduate program.
Salary range: $63,000 – $68,000. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate’s experience and education and departmental budget.
Working Conditions /Physical Requirements
The essential functions are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather. Work is often sedentary and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in‑person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
