- Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for a group of patients for a designated timeframe.
- Provides care via therapeutic use of self, nursing process, environment/instrumentation, and health care team members.
- Performs duties according to established standards of care and core values of the Division of Nursing.
- Reports to assigned Unit Director.
- Performs ongoing and systematic assessment focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status of patients.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses.
- Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
- Formulates prioritized, goal-directed plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
- Identifies patient/significant other learning needs and implements appropriate measures.
- Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Performs timely, accurate, and concise documentation on unit and in patient record.
- Evaluates effectiveness of self, care given by health care team, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes.
- Functions with awareness and application of safety issues within the institution.
- Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols.
- Demonstrates sound knowledge base and actions in care and decision making for designated patient populations.
- Follows all Medical Center, Division of Nursing, and Unit specific Policy and Procedures.
- Incorporates hourly rounding into daily practice.
- Demonstrates awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practices.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in patient care and unit function and manages situations to reduce risk.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skills required by assigned unit.
- Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and department personnel.
- Formulates and uses effective working relationships with health care team members, patients, and significant others.
- Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant other rights.
- Decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined ethically.
- Remains aware of current nursing research and implements findings as applicable.
- Establishes priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources.
- Core values include accountability, caring and compassionate environment, collaboration, and communication.
Job Details
- BLS (American Heart Association) required for onboarding.
- ACLS (American Heart Association) required for onboarding.
- State License Verification required for submission, completed within 30 days prior to start with verification from state board as required for position.
- Arnot Skills Checklist must be fully complete and updated annually.
- Arnot Core Competency Exam (Core Comp I, II, III for RNs) with a score of 80% or higher required.
- MMR vaccination or positive IgG titer required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series required with expectation to complete within 30 days of first vaccine.
- Fit Test must be completed prior to start and updated annually.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive antibody titer required; if negative/equivocal, declination form needed.
- TB Test required with specific testing protocols and annual requirement.
- Driver's License or State be valid and unexpired.
- Varicella vaccination or positive IgG titer required; if negative/equivocal, vaccination series required with expectation to complete within 30 days of first vaccine.
- Tdap preferred within last 10 years or declination form required.
- Physical/Health Statement from approved provider within the last 12 months required.
- Agency Background Check must be run within 30 days of start including multiple county and national checks.
- Agency Drug Screen required within 30 days of start with specific drug panel excluding marijuana.
- Arnot Resume required for submission with detailed employment and education history.
- Professional references required from recent employment.
- Employment verification required from most recent employer.
- Education verification required for initial degree in field.
- Arnot Health Personal Information Form and Code of Conduct required.
- Arnot Internal Background Check initiated upon acceptance.
- Arnot Confirmation of Assignment Form required.
- Arnot Self Study Packet Documentation and Quiz required.
- Arnot Sexual Harassment Acknowledgement required.
- Arnot Parking Registration Form required.
- 7 Instant Background Checks required including NYOMIG, OFAC, OIG, PA Registry, NSO, SAM, NY Registry.
