Position SummaryThe Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to ensure timely delivery of orthopedic implants and surgical instrumentation. This individual will utilize the Infor Visual Enterprise ERP system to translate customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity into executable production plans. The role requires regular engagement with cross-functional teams across both office and manufacturing environments to optimize workflow, minimize downtime, and support operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules using Infor Visual Enterprise ERP, aligning manufacturing activities with customer demand and inventory goals.
- Review and analyze work orders, material requirements, and capacity constraints to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks.
- Collaborate daily with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and engineering teams to communicate priorities, production changes, and delivery commitments.
- Monitor production progress and proactively adjust plans to accommodate changing priorities, material delays, or resource availability.
- Ensure work orders are properly released, sequenced, and tracked within the ERP system to maintain visibility and accuracy.
- Participate in production meetings and lead discussions on schedule adherence, work center performance, and open order status.
- Generate and analyze ERP‑driven reports to identify trends, forecast production needs, and recommend improvements to scheduling practices.
- Spend regular time on the manufacturing floor to verify progress, resolve issues, and ensure that schedule requirements are fully understood by department leads.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing production efficiency, reducing lead times, and optimizing resource utilization.
- Maintain data integrity within the ERP system and ensure all production transactions are entered accurately and timely.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in a medical device or precision manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficiency with Infor Visual Enterprise ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, Oracle, SAP, or JD Edwards).
- Strong analytical and computer skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Excel and data‑driven decision‑making tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments and with all levels of the organization.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, lead times, and capacity planning in a regulated medical device environment.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to balance time between office‑based planning and hands‑on floor engagement.
Hybrid role with approximately 60% office‑based work and 40% on the manufacturing floor.
Moderate exposure to production environments, including machining, finishing, and assembly areas.
Adherence to all cleanroom, safety, and quality requirements per FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
