In this role, you will inspect welded steel pipe, fittings, and spool assemblies to ensure compliance with AWWA standards, our STI/SPFA quality certification program, and internal quality requirements.

This is a hands‑on shop-floor position ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and solid experience inspecting large-diameter pipe welds.

  • Review and verify welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder performance qualifications

  • Coordinate and/or interpret NDE results on pipe welds, including UT, RT, MT, and PT as required by project specifications
  • Inspect pipe coatings and linings (e.g., cement mortar lining, polyurethane, epoxy, tape coat) for thickness, holiday testing, and adhesion where applicable
  • Witness or support hydrostatic pressure testing of fabricated pipe sections and spools
  • Document inspection results, generate nonconformance reports (NCRs), and track corrective actions through resolution
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, material traceability, and quality documentation in accordance with our STI/SPFA-certified quality program and project QA/QC plans
  • Support internal and third‑party audits related to STI/SPFA quality certification
  • Communicate inspection findings clearly to fabrication, engineering, and project management teams
  • Ensure compliance with all shop safety protocols while performing inspections

  • Working knowledge of AWWA standards for steel water pipe (C200, C206, C207, C208) and/or AWS D1.1
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting pipe fabrication drawings, isometrics, and welding symbols
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and pipe-specific inspection documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on the shop floor in Eloy, AZ, including standing, bending, and climbing around large‑diameter pipe for extended periods, in an outdoor/industrial desert climate

  • Experience inspecting large‑diameter (12"+) steel water pipe or similar municipal infrastructure products
  • Prior experience working within an STI/SPFA‑certified fabrication facility
  • Certification or working knowledge of NDE methods (UT, RT, MT, PT)
  • Experience with pipe coating/lining inspection and holiday testing
  • Familiarity with hydrostatic testing procedures for fabricated pipe
