As a Chick-fil-A Supply yard jockey, you will move tractors, trailers, and straight trucks in a safe, accurate, and timely manner at distribution center yards. You are a safe, professional driver who follows all company policies and laws and regulations regarding commercial drivers. Responsibilities- Make safe, accurate, and timely yard movements.
- Ensure that all transportation assets are located in the proper places on the yard at the appropriate times and assist in yard audits.
- On occasion, support asset fueling at our on-site fuel location.
- On occasion, support asset washing at our on-site wash bay.
- Move both 3 rd Party Carrier trailers and assets from Chick‑fil‑A Supply’s private fleet.
- Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements:
- Operate within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD).
- Maintain an acceptable Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) record.
- Follow all pre‑ and post‑trip equipment inspection and DVIR reporting procedures.
- Follow all policies and procedures in the FSMA regarding safe food transport.
- Immediately notify team leaders of any accident or on‑the‑job injury and complete reports.
- Wear appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy.
- Abide by yard safety procedures, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings, safety vests.
- Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions.
- Report defects, accidents or violations.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Manage time off to ensure proper rest and operate in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
- Prepare for shifts to rotate.
- Attend shift in proper attire and with PPE and safety equipment as required by company guidelines.
- Work in a multi-temperature environment including freezer temperatures.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Distribution Center staff.
- Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner.
- Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload.
- Able to travel 5% for supplier visits and/or stranded tractor/trailer movements due to Hours of Service constraints on delivery drivers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Minimum 1 year commercial driving experience.
- Occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, and/or move pallets/carts with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds.
- Perform work in all weather conditions.
- Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements.
- Prior experience as a yard jockey or coordinating a transportation yard.
