Accounts Senior
Ely, Cambridgeshire
£38,000 - £45,000

A well-established accountancy firm is seeking an Accounts Senior to join its growing Ely team. This is a varied and client-facing role within a supportive environment, offering exposure to a broad mix of accounting and tax work across SMEs, sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. You will be working as part of a collaborative team, delivering high-quality compliance and advisory services while building strong relationships with a diverse client base.

Role Responsibilities

  • Preparation of management accounts, bookkeeping and client records to draft accounts stage.
  • Preparation of statutory financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
  • Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns, including capital gains and property income schedules.
  • Completion and submission of VAT returns and liaison with HMRC.
  • Providing bookkeeping support, including Sage Line 50 client assistance and visits where required.
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting advisory work where appropriate.
  • Supporting payroll-related queries including P11

    Ds and CIS returns.
  • Liaising directly with clients to request information, resolve queries and provide updates.
  • Assisting with company secretarial duties including filings at Companies House.
  • Reviewing junior staff work, mentoring and supporting development where applicable.
  • Using modern paperless systems and integrated accounting software (CCH).

Personal Requirements

  • AAT qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 1 year experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance.
  • Confident communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage workload and work to deadlines.
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office.
