Multi-Sector Cost Consultancy | Pre- & Post-Contract | Client-Facing Role
The Opportunity
A well-established, privately owned construction consultancy based in Cambridgeshire is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor as part of its continued and measured growth. The business operates across several specialist service lines and works with a stable, repeat client base across a variety of sectors.
This is a long-term opportunity within a consultancy that prioritises technical quality, professional standards, and sustainable workload over volume delivery. The role has been created due to consistent project demand rather than short-term workload spikes.
You will join a close-knit commercial team with direct access to senior surveyors and directors, offering clear development and progression within a professional consultancy environment.
The Role
You will support the delivery of both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying services across multiple live commissions. Working alongside senior team members, the role provides broad exposure across cost management, commercial reporting, and contract administration.
The position is well suited to a post-graduate to intermediate-level Quantity Surveyor who is looking to continue developing their consultancy experience while progressing towards chartership.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of cost plans, estimates, and financial reports
Measurement, valuations, and interim applications
Assisting with procurement strategies and tender processes
Contract administration under JCT and NEC forms
Supporting final accounts and commercial negotiations
Liaising with clients, contractors, and design teams
Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
About You
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Typically 3–6 years’ quantity surveying experience
Consultancy or mixed consultancy/contractor background
Working towards MRICS or committed to progressing through the RICS APC
Sound working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
Professional, organised, and confident in communication
Benefits & Package
£45,000–£55,000 depending on experience
Structured APC and chartership support
Exposure to a varied consultancy project portfolio
Hybrid working arrangement
Supportive, professional working environment
Long-term progression within an established practice
