An incredible opportunity has arisen for a versatile SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Soham. We are looking for someone with an empathetic heart and a resilient mindset to support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC) and complex learning difficulties. This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to provide the stability and encouragement that allows a child to truly flourish in their school environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personalised attention to students on a 1:1 or small‑group basis, ensuring they feel confident and supported in their tasks.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with the class teacher to prepare and adapt lessons, utilizing sensory equipment and visual aids to enhance understanding.
- Champion the well‑being of students by using positive behavior strategies and offering a calm presence during challenging moments.
- Keep detailed records of student milestones, helping the school track progress toward the objectives in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Promote a culture of independence, helping students develop the social and life skills necessary for their future.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure every child receives a consistent and nurturing learning experience.
- Experience working with children or adults with additional needs (such as SEMH, ASD, or global developmental delay) is highly valued.
- A flexible and can‑do attitude, with the ability to adapt to the unique requirements of each student.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative staff team.
- A genuine interest in the SEN sector and a desire to learn new specialist techniques and interventions.
- Relevant training or qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Care certificate, or similar) are a plus, but character and experience are key.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness for one).
