Position: Senior Chef de Partie (maternity cover)

Overview

We are seeking a talented and dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior Chef de Partie. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes. With a genuine passion for food, you will bring excellent organisational skills and a calm, focused approach to working under pressure.

As a strong team player and natural leader, you will set an example for others and strive to uphold the highest standards in every aspect of your work. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the Head Chef in daily operations, ensuring food safety compliance, and maintaining exceptional service standards.

This description reflects the core activities of the role. The school expects that the post holder will adopt a flexible approach to work and may be required to undertake other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the Head Chef.

Responsibilities
  • All duties associated with the preparation and cooking of school meals, under the direction of the Head Chef.
  • Ensuring hygiene and safety standards and regulations are always maintained in areas of work and adherence to school policies and procedures.
  • Working as an effective and committed member of the school catering team, and supporting the overall ethos, work and aims of the school.
Remuneration and Hours

40 hours per week all year. Early shift 7am – 3pm, late shift 11am – 7pm, alternate weekends with a day off during the week.

Start Date:

As soon as possible. Salary: £31,948.00 per annum.

Terms and Conditions
  • Enrolment in the statutory auto-enrolment pension scheme. The employer and employee contribution rates for the auto-enrolment pension scheme are currently:
    Employee contribution 5% and Employer contribution 3%.
  • Annual Leave: 33 days' paid holiday per annum, including Bank and Public holidays (3 days of which must be taken during a whole school shutdown at Christmas).
  • Staff may educate their own children in any of the three parts of the school or at Fairstead House, subject to availability of places and successful admissions procedures. Staff currently enjoy a discretionary discount on fees for children in Reception year onwards; details provided upon request.
  • The School offers a private healthcare insurance scheme, which staff may opt to join, at their expense, shortly after the start of each academic year (policy starts on 1st November). The scheme can only be joined at the start of the policy year, not mid-year.
  • School lunch provided when at work over lunch time; tea and coffee available throughout the day.
  • Limited use of school gym facilities (during specified times) and use of the school swimming pool (during summer school holidays; small fee applies).
  • Limited free on-site parking.
  • Employees and their dependants have access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
